Quasimode are a modern jazz quartet out of Japan that take nods to the classic sound of decades past, while providing a welcome dancefloor sensibility. It’s this club friendly vibe that has gotten the attention of eclectic DJs and tastemakers worldwide, including Giles Peterson and Mad Mats of Raw Fusion Records, who released their first international 12″ vinyl single.
The group’s second album, The Land Of Freedom, has just been released in digital form on Germany’s Sonar Kollektiv label. It’s available to buy now on Dancetracks Digital. These guys are at the forefront of a budding jazz scene in Japan, getting its proper due both outside of tight knit jazz circles, and outside of their native Nippon. We’ll be keeping an eye on these guys, undoubtedly destined for great things.
