TOKYO GRAPHIC PASSPORT is a creative event from the folks of +81 creatives. The event will bring together creatives who have us aware such as Studio Newwork, Shun Kawakami (Artless), Theseus Chan, and Hideki Nakajima to name a few. Programs include Tokyo Visualist Symposium and International Magazine Conference. This should not be missed!
This fall +81 Creatives is holding the creative event Tokyo Graphic Passport in which the best sense in the world will converge in Tokyo as leading creators and art directors from Paris, Berlin, NY, Singapore, Amsterdam, London, and Tokyo hold live conferences. In consideration of the type of minds needed for “creating”, we are assembling a place where encounters that will lay the cornerstones of the future can occur. The main attractions at this year’s inaugural event are the International Magazine Conference and the Tokyo Visualist Symposium. This is an ideal opportunity to listen directly to the leaders of today’s creative scene.

Hayato Nishimaki exhibited his work at the latest Geisai Art Show in Tokyo and is scheduled for the Geisai Museum 2 Show by Takashi Murakami. The works are part of Hayato Nishimaki’s new collection of hand drawn illustrations. A limited selection of his work are now available for purchase! All original works are signed by the artist. So Sunday night was the big showdown for the AKB48 girls from “Akiba”. A Japanese news reports on the AKB48′s US debut. The segment reports on how the original fan-base of the group of otaku has evolved into a more diverse audience. There is a high percentage of females who admire the group. The members of the group are also successful in reaching out into the other fields in media such as advertisements. AKB48 is perhaps the new generation of “idols” with a new approach in Japanese entertainment.

Hidden Champion is a free bi-annual Japanese zine that covers the “hidden champions” of cultures. The new issue covers notable heads like Craig Costello aka KR, jeffstaple, Mike Shinoda, Tokyo Project Flow, to name a few. The issue will cover the usual topics of skate, BMX, surf, music and art/design.

World famous skateboarder Eric Coston will be hosting an event for his signature Frogskins glasses at the Oakley flagship store in Harajuku on September 30th. Japanese photographer Keiichi Nitta and Atiba Jefferson will exhibit their Eric Coston photography at this event. Keiichi Nitta is well known for his assistance with Terry Richardson.
