To get ready for our first COPA NYC Tournament which are for the upcoming weekends, NYC JAPAN has been pushing their skills by playing friendly matches with other teams. Our July 4th was spent in Staten Island for the match with Liberia team. We played with NYC Argentina this past Monday and NYC Jamaica on Friday. All teams are tough! Go NYC JAPAN !

2010 Game schedule has been announced! NYC JAPAN Team will play in the preliminaries on July 24th (Sat) – 9AM vs. Ireland, NOON vs. France, and (3) 2PM vs. Haiti. If NYC JAPAN qualifies, they will play in the quarter-finals on July 25th and move on to the Semi Finals and Finals on the next weekend. For full schedule check here.
We, team NYC Japan will be supporting the teams playing at the World Cup tomorrow morning at the A.R.C. Courtyard.



Copa NYC is an annual soccer tournament consisting of 16 “National Teams” assembled from a selection of participating communities from the New York area. These teams represent their diverse cultural heritages. As announced earlier, NYC JAPAN were honored to be selected as one of competitive 16 teams for Copa NYC 2010! On June 9th (Wed), we were invited to the official Copa NYC Tournament Draw party held at the Gracie Mansion! Movie/TV star Anthony Lapaglia introduced Mayor Bloomberg. Tommy Smyth was there as the master of ceremony. With around 1,000 attendees, it was a huge party! For the result of the tournament draw, check here.

The all-star Japan team of selected players are playing at Copa NYC 2010. Copa NYC is a very competitive annual soccer tournament consisting of 16 “National Teams” assembled from a selection of participating communities from the New York area, representing their diverse cultural heritages. The 2010 tournament is held on July 24 & 25, and July 31 & Aug.01 in NYC. Team Japan (NYC JAPAN) was not in the 2009 Tournament, but qualified for the 2010!
